What This Health Score Tool Shows You
Most dashboards roll everything into a single “health” number and expect you to trust it. This section lets you see what that number is really doing under the hood before you look at the details.
Use the sliders in the tool below to set your 5 components – completeness, freshness, engagement, change volume, and approvals – and watch how different roll-up methods behave:
- Weighted average – simple, familiar, fully compensating.
- RMS (root mean square) – strong areas speak louder than weak ones.
- Geometric mean – “no weak links” allowed; one low value pulls the total down.
- Weighted average + balance penalty – practical middle ground that nudges you toward balance.
As you adjust the inputs, notice when the health score still looks “green” even though one dimension is clearly lagging. The goal is not to find a perfect formula, but to choose a method that matches how your team actually thinks about risk and readiness.
